Development of the city at the beginning of 20th century led to expansion of streets in the vicinity of today's Náměstí Svobody (Freedom Square). Unfortunately, in light of this requirement, it was necessary to rehabilite some historically valuable buildings.
So the Dubských Palace (well-known for its porcelain kabinet, fittend with chandeliers and lining parts made from porcelain) had to submit to the „new era“. The Dubských Palace and the neighbouring house, both situated towards the Náměstí Svobody had been replaced by Artur Weisse’s structure from 1914 with Art Nouveau and Neo-Baroque Farade – Veselá (Fröhlichergasse) and Česká 1 (Rudolfsgasse). Palace Dubský the house by replacing the square towards the building in 1914 by architect Arthur Weiss Art Nouveau and Neo-Baroque facade - Happy (Fröhlichergasse) 10-12 and the Czech 1 (Rudolfsgasse). The house was originally built for the Austrian first general insurance company, after 1930 the house turnet to ASO shop and nowadays citizens is known as the Sputnik, according to the former cafeteria of the same name. Sputnik was opened in 1959 on the occasion of the International (Engineering) fair in Brno. Today, the basement and first two floors are used for commercial purposes.
